It could do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds , a record for a street car in 1966. The quintessential American muscle car of the time. The race car was driven by Ken Miles, replaced at Le Mans by the GT40. Ken Miles and Denny Hulme, driving the #1 car. Asked to wait for the other two Ford GT40’s to make it a 1st, 2nd, 3rd win, that mistake allowed Bruce McLaren /Chris Amon to win. Miles was devastated and it was one of Carroll Shelby’s biggest regrets. Ken Miles died later that year racing at Riverside.
